Netflix has confirmed the Breaking Bad film, El Camino, will arrive on the streaming service in the Autumn.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie will debut on October 11 and will see Aaron Paul returning as crystal meth cook Jesse Pinkman.
The story follows Jesse’s escape from captivity and “come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future,” according to Netflix.
The movie has been written by the show’s creator Vince Gilligan but it is unclear if Bryan Cranston, who played Walter White in Breaking Bad, will return to star in the film.
When asked whether Cranston will reprise his role for flashbacks - Aaron Paul gave a coy response to the New York Times.
“All I can say, I think people will be really happy with what they see,” he teased.
The three-time Emmy winner added that he was speechless after reading the script for El Camino.
“I couldn’t speak for a good 30, 60 seconds,” he said.
“I was just lost in my thoughts. As the guy who played the guy, I was so happy that [creator Vince Gilligan] wanted to take me on this journey.
“It’s a chapter of Breaking Bad that I didn’t realise that I wanted. And now that I have it, I’m so happy that it’s there.”
The crime drama arrived in 2008 with little fanfare but by the time its final episode aired in 2013 it was a beloved series rated as one of the best TV shows ever.
It followed Cranston’s mild-mannered chemistry teacher who turns to drug dealing after being diagnosed with lung cancer. He enlists the help of his former student Jesse and the pair become major players in the criminal underworld.
Breaking Bad also starred Anna Gunn as Walter’s wife Skyler while RJ Mitte Jr played his son.
The series spawned a spin-off prequel, Better Call Saul, starring Bob Odenkirk as a slippery lawyer.
