This year’s Dancing On Ice finalists have now been decided, after Brian McFadden suffered a literal fall at the last hurdle.
Brian found himself in the skate-off for the first time on Sunday night, where he went up against former X Factor singer Saara Aalto, who had previously been in the bottom two on two occasions.
He and partner Alex Murphy got off to a strong start, but towards the end of the routine, she was seen landing on the ice, with the ex-Westlife star joining her a second later.
To make matters worse, all four of the judges admitted that had Brian not fallen, their verdict could have been very different, ultimately choosing to put Saara through to the final.
“It pains me to say it - had you not have fallen Brian, this would have been a very different outcome,” said Jason Gardiner, while Ashley Banjo agreed: “Before the fall, it wasn’t a foregone conclusion. But based on what I saw, I have to save Saara and Hamish.”
Despite his unfortunate fall, Brian left with a smile on his face, telling presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that he’d had “such a fun time” on the show.
Saara joins former Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan and Love Island finalist Wes Nelson in this year’s Dancing On Ice final.
James will be going into the final on a high, landing the first perfect score of the series on Sunday night, only to manage it once again when taking to the ice for the second time.
The Dancing On Ice final will air on Sunday 10 March at 6pm on ITV.
