Henry Hall Dead: Britain's Got Talent's The Pensionalities Singer Dies, Aged 86

"He was loved by many, forgotten by none and will be greatly missed by all."

Britain’s Got Talent finalist Henry Hall has died at the age of 86.

Henry made it all the way to the final stage of the competition back in 2017, as one half of the singing duo The Pensionalities.

The Doncaster Free Press reported that Henry died “peacefully at home, as he wished, with his family” on April 28.

The obituary read: “In both life and death, Henry definitely did it ‘his way!’

“He lived an extraordinary life and was known to a great many people as H from Cusworth’s Motorcycles and latterly half of The Penisonalities from Britain’s Got Talent.

“He was loved by many, forgotten by none and will be greatly missed by all.”

Henry and singing partner Malcolm White won praise from all four of the judges at their first audition, with Alesha Dixon noting their performance “goes to show you’re never too old”.

After their initial performance of You Make Me Feel So Young, they won over the public in the semi-finals with a cover of One Direction’s History, earning them the most votes in that show.

In the live final, they finished in fifth place overall, after a cheerful rendition of When You’re Smiling.

Before forming The Pensionalities – originally named The Pensionaires – Henry hadn’t been on stage for 35 years, but with the help of his bandmate, grew his confidence, eventually culminating in their appearance on BGT.

A funeral service is to take place on May 20 at a crematorium in Doncaster, where those in attendance are urged to wear “light and bright colours” in memory of Henry.

Britain’s Got Talent is now into its 13th series, airing on Saturday nights on ITV.
