'Britain's Got Talent' Winner Richard Jones Made A Less-Than-Magical Appearance On 'The Chase'

Thought he looked familiar? Here's why...

If you thought you recognised ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winner Richard Jones, we think we might have an idea why.

It turns out that as well as a budding magician and soldier, Richard is something of a budding quizzer, having appeared in an episode of ‘The Chase’ earlier this year.

Back in March, Richard went up against the newest recruit to the ITV quiz show, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan on ‘The Chase’, and even then couldn’t resist wowing Bradley Walsh with a card trick.

However, while his magic tricks might have wowed viewers, his general knowledge was slightly less impressive, as he ultimately became the third member of his team to be thwarted by the Chaser in his episode.

In the lead-up to this year’s ‘BGT’ final, Jenny publicly tweeted Richard, joking: “Great to see he wasn't put off TV after I beat him on ‘The Chase’.”

I'm chuffed for @richjonesmagic winning his #BGT semi-final - great to see he wasn't put off TV after I beat him on #TheChase :)

But while Richard might have given ‘Chase’ viewers a sense of déjà vu when he cropped up on ‘BGT’ months later, that wasn’t the only thing that felt familiar to some fans of the show, who noted that one of his tricks was awfully similar to one performed on ‘America’s Got Talent’ just two years prior.

Fortunately for him, that didn’t affect his chances in the final, and he ultimately became the first magician to ever win ‘BGT’ in Saturday night’s (28 May) live show, landing a place in the Royal Variety Performance with his emotional performance.
