Simon Cowell has become the second Britain’s Got Talent judge to select his Golden Buzzer act this year.
The music mogul plumped for comedian Kojo Anim during Saturday night’s show, after he had the panel in stitches with his audition.
The London-based comic had a routine of socially-conscious material, which touched on class, black cabs, childhood and being a young parent.
And while it was Simon who selected him as his Golden Buzzer, Kojo actually had a connection to another BGT judge.
Arriving on stage, it became clear he knew Alesha Dixon from her days in girl-group Mis-Teeq, with the pop star telling the audience: “I’ve known Kojo for many, many years.”
After his performance, she remarked: “I’m so happy right now. I’ve always respected you but my respect levels have just gone way up there now.”
Amanda Holden said she had loved hearing “how you have grafted, how you have honed your act, how you have grown your family”, who were in the audience supporting him.
David Walliams added: “You’ve got all the bases covered as a comedian. You’re brilliantly likeable. You’re observational. I think you did yourself really proud today.”
But Kojo’s greatest compliment came as Simon said: “Kojo, I’m going to be really honest with you, I don’t really like comedians on this show.
“But I love you,” he added, hitting the Golden Buzzer and sending him directly through to the live shows.
David was the first judge to select his Golden Buzzer act last week, opting for a children’s choir, whose uplifting audition had him in tears.
Britain’s Got Talent continues next Saturday on ITV.
