Katy Perry found herself embroiled in one of 2016’s most high-profile break-ups on Tuesday (13 July), when Calvin Harris namechecked her in a series of tweets aimed at his ex Taylor Swift - but don’t worry, she had the perfect response.
It all began when Taylor confirmed that she’s the mystery co-writer on Calvin and Rihanna’s recent hit single ‘This Is What You Came For’, and Calvin wasn’t too pleased with the fact she made the revelation, claiming Taylor was the one who wanted to keep her involvement on the track a secret.
In the tweets that followed, he dragged Katy into it, referencing the duo’s rumoured feud, and writing: “I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.” Ouch.
All eyes were then on Katy, who responded in a typically humorous way, posting a gif of… Hillary Clinton:
This was then followed by a retweet of one of her posts from 2015:
Nicely done, Katy. Nicely done.
Taylor is yet to respond to Calvin’s comments, and there’s no guarantee that the ‘1989’ star will.
At present, she’s in Australia with her new beau Tom Hiddleston, who addressed their relationship for the first time during an interview with an Aussie TV station.
Well, we say addressed, but dodged the topic and looked more awkward than ever is probably a more accurate description of events.
