A car smashed through a plate glass window and into an escalator at the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, east London.
Dramatic images posted on social media show a white people carrier lodged directly on top of the moving stairs, having ploughed through glass in the mall’s car park.
Video from the scene showed the extent of the damage following the collision on Saturday afternoon. No injuries have been reported.
Eyewitness Daniel Iqbal said the incident involved a family who appeared shaken but uninjured. “I believe they were okay,” he said. “They were standing.”
Scotland Yard said there were no suspicious circumstances and the London Ambulance Service said a call for its assistance was cancelled.
Westfield did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
