Cardi B has hit back at Nicki Minaj’s claims that she bought her success.
The rivalry between Cardi and Nicki has been well-documented, but reached new heights over the weekend when they were involved in a physical altercation over the weekend at a New York Fashion Week event.
Nicki broke her silence over the incident earlier this week, suggesting her rival’s success was based on “sympathy” and “payola”, which Cardi has now disputed in a post on her Instagram.
Sharing a screengrab of the 10 best-selling hip-hop albums of the year so far, which saw her debut offering ‘Invasion Of Privacy’ at the number three slot, she wrote: “NUMBERS DONT FUCKIN LIE [sic]”
Cardi also shared a video from one of her early concerts in 2016, noting: “NO LABEL, NO RADIO PLAY, FRESH OUT OF LOVE AND HIP HOP [the reality show she appeared on before releasing hits like ‘Bodak Yellow’ and ‘I Like It’], ONLY 200K IN MY BANK ACCOUNT ,MY FIRST TOUR !!
“Nobody can make you feel like you cheated yourself or you don’t deserve to be where you at when you KNOW YOU WORKED YOURSELF TO THE TOP!! [sic]”
The pair’s rap beef dates back to when they were both featured on the Migos track ‘Motor Sport’, and Cardi claimed Nicki’s verse was different to the one she initially recorded, which many took as an implication she had re-recorded her lines to not be outshone.
It appeared they had patched things up when they were photographed together at the Met Gala in May, but in the lead-up to Nicki’s new album ‘Queen’, she made several comments which were perceived to be digs at Cardi, seemingly reigniting the feud.
