Police have issued new CCTV footage in a fresh appeal for information after a 98-year-old Second World War veteran died following a violent robbery at his home.
Peter Gouldstone was attacked on 6 November last year and left fighting for his life in hospital, before he died the following month.
The closed circuit footage shows two men entering the back garden of a property, where they looked through the windows and attempted to open the doors before leaving the scene.
Gouldstone was a former telephone engineer who worked phone lines in Italy during the 1939-45 conflict.
The widower had been retired for 40 years and lived in Enfield, north London, for more than six decades.
Detective Inspector Alison Cole said: “We believe there were at least three men involved in this attempted burglary and we are very keen to speak to them.
“We are appealing for anyone who thinks they may know these individuals to get in touch with any information, no matter how small.
“Mr Gouldstone tragically died following a senseless attack in his own home and we are doing all we can to help his family get the justice they deserve.”
Police said a 26-inch Panasonic television, model TX – L26X10B, was among the items stolen from Gouldstone’s home.
A £10,000 reward for information has been put up by the charity Crimestoppers.
