Former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ host Brian Dowling has spoken out, after the Channel 5 show was revealed to have staged a scene last week.
During a live broadcast last week, the ‘CBB’ finalists were shown getting into bed while Big Brother bid them “good night” on their final evening in the house, only for the lights to come back on a minute later with the group quickly going back to whatever they’d been up to beforehand.
In a new interview with The Sun, Brian reflects on how the show has changed since he was a housemate, having been in the house twice before his brief stint presenting it.
He explains: “It has changed where it’s probably more… how do I say this without sounding like a dick… more produced reality as opposed to when I was on the show and it was reality.
In response to the furore surrounding the live scene, a ‘CBB’ spokesperson told HuffPost UK: “Footage shown on the live feed involved Big Brother alerting housemates of a long final day ahead. The show is entirely authentic and the housemates are not scripted.”
Several past housemates from the Channel 5 years have also addressed the matter, insisting the scene was a one-off specially for the last highlights show of the series, and that everything else was authentic.
Former ‘Ex On The Beach’ cast member Stephen Bear was eventually crowned this summer’s ‘CBB’ champion, over runner-up Ricky Norwood.
