Now listen, nobody likes a karaoke show-off, but we reckon we could make an exception for the legendary singer Celine Dion, who surprised patrons at a bar in New York this week.
The news cycle of “Celine Dion living her best life” is one we don’t imagine we’ll ever get tired of, and footage taken from the night in question show the music icon having a great time as she performs one of her own hits at a drag club.
Celine sang one of her new tracks – Flying On My Own – at the drag venue, even including a subtle tribute to her late husband René Angélil, when she ended the performance with a kiss towards the sky.
Dressed in a typically-understated metallic dress, she also got the thumbs up from those lucky enough to be in attendance, with one person describing the night on Twitter as “the party of the year”.
The iconic singer was clearly in the mood for letting her hair down, as the impromptu performance – which happened shortly after midnight – came the night before she released her latest album, Courage, her first English-language album in six years.
Celine’s latest release features collaborations with some of the biggest names in music, including a track penned by David Guetta and Sia, and another co-written by Sam Smith.
She also launched a world tour in support of the album, which arrives in the UK in September next year, with shows in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Dublin and London.
All we’re saying is, maybe find yourself a spot at a karaoke drag bar when she’s in town, because you never know when she might just surprise you...
