Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is following in the footsteps of Adele, Madonna and Cher by becoming one of those stars who only goes by her first name.
The former 'X Factor' judge is dropping her surname Fernandez-Versini, following her split from French husband, Jean-Bernard.
She will now only be known as 'Cheryl', with The Mirror reporting she wants to start afresh after the breakdown of her second marriage.
While Cheryl has been using just her first name for her music career, her new moniker will extend to all aspects of her public life.
A source told the paper: “Things turned pretty nasty over the weekend, with both Cheryl and JB making comments on social media, so from hereon in, she will just be known as Cheryl.
The news comes after it was announced Cheryl would be honoured at the 7 annual Global Gift Gala in Paris by honorary chair Eva Longoria next month.
"Organisers at next month’s event were told that all announcements of Cheryl’s attendance should only refer to her as Cheryl," the insider added.
The star was recently forced to deny claims she had cheated on Jean-Bernard with current boyfriend Liam Payne.
She branded the rumours "shit" as she lashed out on social media.
“If anybody believes the shit they’re reading today you really don’t know me at all,” she wrote on Twitter.
Similarly, a spokesperson for Cheryl told MailOnline: “Cheryl does not and is not going to comment upon private matters. Jean-Bernard’s information about when Cheryl started her relationship with Liam is false.”
