Chris Evans has sent Marvel fans into meltdown by prompting speculation he has quit his role as Captain America.
The actor, who has played the superhero for the last eight years, posted a cryptic tweet after completing filming on the fourth āAvengersā movie.
āOfficially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least,ā he tweeted.
āPlaying this role over the last 8 years has been an honor.
āTo everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.ā
The tweet came after Chris previously hinted he would be saying goodbye to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, telling the New York Times: āYou want to get off the train before they push you off.ā
Needless to say, film fans are feeling pretty emotional right now...
Chris has played Captain American numerous times over the last eight years.
He has starred in āThe Avengersā, āCaptain America: The Winter Soldierā, āAvengers: Age Of Ultronā, āCaptain America: Civil Warā, āSpider-Man Homecomingā and āAvengers: Infinity Warā, as well as the upcoming untitled āAvengersā film, which is due to be released next year.
