Christopher Biggins pulled out of a planned appearance on Monday’s (8 August) ‘This Morning’, where he was due to discuss his removal from the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house.
The ITV daytime show had publicised the fact the entertainer would be sitting down with hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, to chat about being thrown off ‘CBB’ last week for making a series of controversial remarks.
However, an update was later posted on This Morning’s official Twitter page, revealing Biggins would no longer be appearing.
The tweet read:
In his absence, ‘Big Brother’s Bit On The Side’ host Rylan Clark-Neal, who presents a showbiz segment on ‘This Morning’, read out a statement from Biggins who claimed he would now be taking a break from the spotlight.
Biggins was ejected from the ‘CBB’ house after making a joke about concentration camps about Jewish housemate Katie Waissel, and also making a series of problematic comments about bisexual people.
He has since offered an apology in an interview with The Sun, claiming he is “mortified” over the incident, and now plans to visit Auschwitz.
Katie’s mother also weighed in the matter, claiming that Biggins should be quizzed by police over his remark.
However, he did receive some support from Ricky Gervais, who leapt to his defence on Twitter, following his exit.
‘Celebrity Big Brother’ airs nightly on Channel 5.
