Chip, the University of Colorado Buffaloes’ mascot, nearly lost his Rocky Mountain oysters on Saturday.

He and the poor person wearing his costume accidentally blasted himself in the groin with a T-shirt cannon during the Buffs’ football game against the University of New Hampshire. He went down hard.

Oh, give me a home where the Buffalo groans...

The T-shirt! His groin! It works on so many levels! pic.twitter.com/L5vroxY2sm

Chip got carted off Folsom Field in Boulder and Twitter buzzed about his misfortune:

My view of @Chipthebuffalo being carted off the field. I heard a loud bang and saw Chip down. Seems like a malfunction with the t-shirt cannon pic.twitter.com/GIq2P1VTXG

The misfire didn’t keep him away from the sideline for long, however.

He eventually returned to see the Buffaloes complete their 45-14 victory over New Hampshire, The Denver Post reported.

“I’m good guys!” Chip wrote on Twitter.

The Buffs remain unbeaten. Can’t say the same for Chip.

When Colorado hosts UCLA on Friday, Sept. 28, we recommend that he stay away from the souvenir-blasting weaponry.
