'Coronation Street' Star Paula Lane Reveals She Chose To Leave The Soap To Concentrate On Motherhood

'I feel like I’ve got to nurture this new baby.'

Former 'Coronation Street' actress Paula Lane has revealed becoming a mother was a driving force behind her decision to her quit the soap.

The 30-year-old, who played Kylie Platt in the ITV soap, is mum to Arthur, 18 months, and is currently pregnant with her second child.

Lane said going back to work when her son was 11 weeks old was "too soon".

"Arthur only had 11 weeks with me before I went back to work. I’ve done six years of solid work so I think I owe it to myself to have a natural break."

Lane, who is expecting a baby girl in July with her husband Tom Shaw, said her decision to leave the soap after six years was driven by a combination of wanting to spend time with her daughter and also exploring other roles.

"If anything amazing comes up I’d have to take another look at my plan," she added.

The actress married Shaw in May 2014 and announced she was pregnant with her first child in June 2014.

The couple announced they were expecting their second child together in January 2016.

“The pregnancy is going really well, I haven’t really had any problems apart from the first bout of morning sickness, but that’s standard,” Lane told OK! Magazine at the time.

The mum said she was glad to find out they were having a girl because they’ll have “one of each”.

“I was worried that people might be shocked as it wasn’t too far away from having had Arthur,” she added.
