As viewers know, his character Sharif Nazir has been secretly having an affair with family friend Sonia for years, and this week’s shows will see him publically humiliated when his wife Yasmeen finds out about it.

We can now reveal that following the incident, Dev will alert Yasmeen to the fact Sharif hasn’t turned up to work.

Yasmeen’s grandson Zeedan then finds his heartbroken grandmother clutching a letter from her husband, that explains he has left Weatherfield for good.

Marc was sacked by ‘Corrie’ bosses when he posted a series of “racially offensive” comments on Twitter.

The affair storyline was due to have a huge impact on the festive season in Weatherfield, and the soap’s writers made tweaks to the script to orchestrate his early, unexpected exit.
