We’ve had Yorkshire pudding burritos and pizzas. Now it’s time for the sweet tooths of the world to have their cake (and eat it).

A Birmingham pub is taking Easter to another level this year by offering a Creme Egg Yorkshire pudding. The dessert - which sounds so wrong, but looks so right - features two chocolate sponge cakes sandwiched between white and orange fondant. It’s then decorated with creme eggs and encased in a giant Yorkshire pudding.

As the pub’s general manager puts it: “It’s the best of both worlds!”

The Half Penny Farm pub, which is famed for its giant Yorkshire puddings, introduced the seasonal Easter treat to meet growing demand for unique and unusual dishes.

Mark Tennant, general manager, said: “Easter is the perfect time to gather the family and feast together for a delicious homely meal – finished off of course, with chocolate. All our cakes at the pub are handmade by our dedicated team so this year we put our cake-a-tier to the test to create something truly egg-stravagant as a special Easter cake, and we’ve not been disappointed.”

The savoury and sweet treat is available now at the Half Penny Farm in Oldbury. If it proves popular, it could be rolled out to 65 Farmhouse Inns sites nationwide.
