Hello and happy Friday! Obviously the main animal story of the week, which we cannot simply breeze past (sorry, you’re actually getting six stories this week!) is the addition of a new member to the Blue Peter team.

Henry the beagle-basset hound cross made his debut in the studio yesterday and oh glory B... Those soft floppy ears. Those marble-like eyes. What an absolute cutie he is.

Two-year-old Henry is set to become a regular fixture on the weekly CBBC show and, to be perfectly honest, we’re not the target audience but we might start tuning in. The pooch apparently loves long walks and is very inquisitive. He’s also a rescue pup, adopted from Dogs Trust. #adoptdontshop

1. Many Hands Make Simples Work.

When it comes to hardworking animals, the meerkat population wouldn’t initially spring to mind. But new photo evidence suggests these furry friends can graft. One electrician working at Drusillas Park, East Sussex found out firsthand just how helpful they can be when a team of meerkats got involved, helping to pass (/steal) tools and inspect the lights.

2. Ducks Get In Formation.

Anyone who doubts the intelligence of non-humans needs to get a load of this... Ducks were spotted waiting for the green man to appear at a set of traffic lights in Germany. When he did eventually appear, they waddled across the tram tracks to safety.

Such organisation. Such strategy. Get these guys in Parliament.

3. Dog Is Not In The Mood For Your April Fool’s.

Justin Bieber wasn’t the only person p***ing people off on 1 April. One poor doggo was given the choice of two meals and obviously picked the more delicious-looking of the two. But it was all some horrid, twisted joke... The dish he chose was actually plain old dog kibble. And boy was he miffed about it.

We feel your pain, Rover.

4. Baby Fox Rescued By Fire Brigade.

Ian the baby fox was rescued by London firefighters at the start of the week after getting stuck inside a cavity wall in Queensway Market.

Scott Magdalani from the fire service said they named him after Firefighter Ian Broomfield who retired this week. Baby fox is now in the care of local charity the Mama Cat Trust.

Update on Ian the baby fox 🦊: We understand that a local fox rescuer took Ian in after being contacted by a worried member of the public. We are awaiting an update from them to find out if/when he will be reunited with his mother 🀞 https://t.co/LUGJAmgiPd pic.twitter.com/rS4ItYY9pN

5. Gary, U Ok Hun?

Today we want to be more Gary, our feathered friend who is a leader, not a follower. Have a great weekend!
