David Gest Died After Suffering A Stroke, Lawyer Confirms

The 'Celebrity Big Brother' star was found dead in London in April.

David Gest’s lawyer has confirmed reports that the star died after suffering a stroke.

The ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star was found dead in a hotel room in London’s Canary Wharf back in April, with Scotland Yard originally treating his death as unexplained.

The Metropolitan Police have now confirmed that officers will not be investigating further, stating he died from natural causes and his death is “non suspicious”.

David’s US attorney, Edward Bearman, has since spoken to The Sun about the cause of his death.

“I’ve been told David died from a stroke,” he said.

David had been ill for many months leading up to his death, and had been taking medication to treat pneumonia.

Viewers also saw him forced to quit the January series of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ due to ill health.

The US-born star was a good friend of Michael Jackson, and married Liza Minelli in 2002. The couple parted ways just over a year later, in October 2003.

In 2006, he made a name for himself when he appeared on ‘I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!’, finishing fourth in the series, and forming a close friendship with eventual winner Matt Willis.

Before his death, David was about to embark on a UK tour, titled ‘David Gest Is Not Dead But Alive With Soul’ - a reference to the now infamous ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ mix-up, which saw Tiffany Pollard confuse him with Angie Bowie’s ex-husband, David Bowie while they were in the house.
