David Beckham has lifted the lid on married life with wife Victoria, claiming their marriage is something that has become more “complicated” over time.
Next year, David and Victoria will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, having first started dating in 1997, announcing their engagement the following year.
Discussing married life in a preview clip for his upcoming interview with Australian TV show ‘The Sunday Project’, David explained: “To have been married for the amount of time that we have, it’s always hard work. It becomes a little more complicated.”
He also teases that he has just “one regret”, though the clip cuts out before David is able to offer any further information.
David’s comments come shortly after Victoria gave her own interview about marriage, in which she admitted that over the years she’s become accustomed to shrugging off false stories about her relationship in the press.
“People have been making things up about our relationship for 20 years,” she told British Vogue. “So David and I are pretty used to ignoring the nonsense and just carrying on as normal.”
However, she did add that false rumours about their marriage did affect those close to them, noting: “These things have a wider effect on the people around us, and that’s unfair.”
Earlier this year, a rumour on Twitter forced a representative for David to insist that the couple were not planning to announce a split, stating the matter was nothing more than “fake social media news” and a “very bizarre and embarrassing waste of time”.
