The soon-to-be divorced Dennis Quaid bought his soon-to-be-ex-wife Kimberly Buffington and their twins a home in Pacific Palisades for $3.1 million. Dennis and Kimberly Quaid's names are on the deed, suggesting that while he may be making good on his promise to provide spousal help, at the moment he's keeping a hand in the ownership till.

The four-bedroom, 3,421-square-foot house has ocean views and a pool, but its quite a step down from the 8,300-square-foot marital Pacific Palisades home they once shared. Quaid originally listed that one at an optimistic $16.9 million and reportedly sold for $9.5 million at the end of 2011. He also has a ranch in Montana that hit the market at $14 million about the same time; it remains unsold. Textbook case, perhaps, of how divorce can be hell on a couple's finances, starting with their real estate holdings.
