Meghan Markle Provides Voiceover For New Disney+ Film, Elephant

It was previously reported that the Duchess Of Sussex had lent her voice to the film in exchange for a donation to an elephant charity.

Meghan Markle will lend her voice to a new nature documentary on the new streaming platform Disney+, it has been confirmed.

Earlier this year, The Times reported that the Duchess Of Sussex had inked a deal with Disney, suggesting she would voice a new film in exchange for a donation to the charity Elephants Without Borders.

On Thursday afternoon, Disney+ revealed details of their upcoming programmes, including Elephant – a brand new film “narrated by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex”.

Elephant will be available to stream from 3 April, three days after she and husband Prince Harry step down as senior royals.

The film will debut alongside Dolphin Reef, another Disney+ original which has been narrated by Natalie Portman.

Footage from both clips was revealed in a clip posted on the official Disneynature site, which teased: “Two new movies, two incredible families, two unforgettable journeys.”

The trailer also revealed that Elephant “follows one family’s extraordinary 1000 mile journey across African on an adventure that will change their life”.

Netflix’s chief content officer previously expressed interest in landing a deal with Meghan, who was previously best known for her role in the US legal drama Suits prior to her relationship with Prince Harry.

The couple attended the premiere of Disney’s The Lion King together last July, with footage from the event showing Prince Harry telling the corporation’s former CEO Bob Iger: “You know, she does voiceovers..?”

Disney+ launched in the UK earlier this week, featuring a host of Disney classics, alongside films from the Star Wars and Marvel franchises and every episode of The Simpsons.

The service also features content from National Geographic, and its original programming.
