Nigella Lawson appears to have thrown some shade in Donald Trump’s direction on the day the US president is set to leave office to make way for his successor, Joe Biden.

On Thursday morning, fans couldn’t help noticing that Nigella had thrown it back to her 2015 cookbook Simply Nigella for her “recipe of the day”, which just happened to be… Bitter Orange Tart.

Donald Trump and the first lady Melania Trump will leave the White House on Wednesday morning, after which it’s thought they’re heading to their home in Florida, having announced they will not be in attendance at Biden’s swearing-in ceremony.

He will be the first outgoing president to intentionally skip his successor’s inauguration in more than 150 years, with Mike Pence thought to be attending in his place.

The inauguration will begin at around 4pm UK time, and will include appearances by Jennifer Lopez, country star Garth Brooks and Lady Gaga, who will perform the US national anthem.
