Shocking footage has emerged of fans being forcibly removed from a Dua Lipa concert in Shanghai.

The chart-topping singer is currently on tour in Asia, which arrived in China earlier in the week.

However, video footage from the gig shows several people being removed by security officers, who used physical force and even violence towards fans in the crowd.

I just CANT believe it. This is the show of Dua Lipa in Shanghai. All the fans are forbidden to stand out and could only sit on to see the show?!? If you don’t, the guard would use violence to kick u out. It’s unbelievable... #dualipa pic.twitter.com/quITZNLVxU

While some who have posted video footage online have claimed it was due to fans’ refusal to sit down during the show, others have suggested it was because they were seen waving pride flags during Dua’s performance.

Homosexuality is not illegal in China, as of 1997, but the Chinese social media site Sina Weibo did recently make headlines when they announced that posts relating to homosexuality would be taken down (though this ban was eventually reversed following a backlash).

The videos below contain potentially distressing footage:

At Dua Lipa’s tour in Shanghai, secrity forbids fans to stand up(or waving🏳️🌈flag), which doesn’t make any sense. They brutally DRAGGED those who stood during songs!!Some were even being taken away in a more forceful manner. EVEN DUA WAS CRYING!!! HOW IS THIS HAPPENING !!😭 pic.twitter.com/pWdxA06aSN

Several fans were violently put down & carried out tonight on Dua Lipa concert in Shanghai China, because they weren't allowed to stand up due to "safety concerns", which is a common concert rule in China, but this time its gone too far pic.twitter.com/WBLLXIUIDT

An emotional Dua told her fans towards the end of the show: “I want to create a really safe environment for us all to have fun, and for us all to dance and us all to sing. And just have a really good time.

“We’re not here for very much longer, we have only a few more songs, and I would love for these last few songs for us all to really, really enjoy ourselves.”
