One of our favourite former ‘EastEnders’ pairings have announced that they’re saying goodbye to Albert Square, with Maddy Hill and Himesh Patel stepping down from the roles of Nancy Carter and Tamwar Masood.
The pair have revealed that their final scenes have already been filmed and they’ll be bidding farewell to Walford in just a few weeks, with the actors admitting they’re now keen to pursue other opportunities.
Speaking to Digital Spy about her departure, Maddy explained: “It was time for Nancy to take a break from her family and me from EastEnders after having a wonderful time working on the show.
Maddy has been one of the most central characters on ‘EastEnders’ ever since her arrival two years ago, which came after her soap parents - Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright - were revealed to be playing the Queen Vic’s new owners, Mick and Linda Carter.
She’s since been at the centre of several major plots, most notably revolving around her epilepsy, but was also a key figure in the aftermath of Linda Carter’s shocking sexual assault.
Meanwhile, Himesh has revealed he’s keen to take on new challenges, more than eight years after joining the BBC soap, adding: “I'm looking forward to new challenges, perhaps on the stage or behind the camera.
It’s not yet known exactly how they’ll be leaving the soap (though it’s fair to assume a black cab will be involved), meaning a potential reunion could well be on the cards for their characters, before they say goodbye.
