‘EastEnders’ fans have been given their first look at the newly-reunited Mitchell family, ahead of Ross Kemp’s imminent return to Walford.
Last night (Monday 9 May), viewers saw Barbara Windsor’s character Peggy Mitchell stun Ronnie by turning up on her doorstep and within the next two weeks, Grant will also arrive.
Sadly, his arrival will be due to a devastating turn of events, when the family are left distraught by the news that Peggy’s cancer is terminal.
This is the first time the family have been together since 2006, and the question of whether Grant and Phil can put their differences aside, and support their mum, looms over the Square.
Sam Mitchell, played by Danniella Westbrook, will also arrive in the coming weeks, and the actress celebrated her soap return in style earlier this month.
Speaking on Monday, ‘EastEnders’ executive producer Dominic Treadwell Collins teased Barbara’s final episodes, stating: “I really think Barbara gives the performance of her lifetime.
“I really think it’s just absolutely stunning. And her last episode will break your heart. It genuinely, genuinely will break your heart.”
