Stacey and Martin Fowler may be happily married in ‘EastEnders’, but let’s be honest, couples rarely stay joyful for long in soapland.
It’s not unusual for characters to struggle when it comes to staying together, and with Stacey’s former flame Max Branning returning to Walford later this year, will she stay faithful to Martin?
Speaking on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards, Lacey Turner and James Bye, who play the loved-up duo, shared their thoughts on the matter with The Huffington Post UK.
"Oh, I think this is a 25 year marriage and there won't be any more problems," James joked when asked whether the pair will go the distance, before adding: "No but seriously, we hope that they stay happy."
However, Lacey didn't seem quite so confident, adding: "Well there's always drama. Is there such thing as happy drama?"
When quizzed on whether her character would ever hook up with Max again, Lacey replied: "Who knows, I mean, that's up to Sean [O'Connor, new executive producer]."
Another storyline Sean is currently masterminding is the temporary departure of Kellie Bright, following the news that the actress is expecting her second child.
Lacey went on to triumph in the ceremony, scooping the Best Actress and Best Female Dramatic Performance prizes.
‘EastEnders’ was also given the Best storyline accolade, for Stacey’s post-partum psychosis. See the full list of winners here.
