For most of us, Twitter is a place where we can keep up to date with the latest news, check in with our favourite celebs or start vitriolic arguments with just about anyone, about anything.
But when you’re one of the world’s richest people with a penchant for a crazy scheme, it offers so much more.
Enter Elon Musk.
The controversial entrepreneur was clearly having some issues accessing the New Scientist magazine’s website on Friday morning so he did what anyone else would do – complain on Twitter.
This prompted someone to suggest he should invest so they don’t need a paywall and can “make the articles free for everyone to read”, which is, frankly, a great idea.
Musk pondered the suggestion...
Pondering done, he inquired about the price...
At this point the New Scientist CEO, Nina Wright, intervened – possibly interpreting the whole thing as a bit of a joke.
Thing is this is Elon Musk, and he’s not one to joke.
Cue the rest of Twitter...
Wright has yet to reply, publicly at least, so we’ll keep you up to date with this fascinating insight into how billionaires do their shopping.
The New Scientist did not respond to a request for a comment.
