Earlier this week, Spice Girl Mel B claimed that the iconic 90s girl band were “definitely” getting back together during an interview on ’Loose Women’.
“For sure we are,” she said on the daytime show. “We’re going to start this year, then go on until next year - and then hopefully the year after that if it’s got anything to do with me.”
Fresh off the back of Mel B’s comments, the latest update comes courtesy of Emma Bunton, who spoke to HuffPost UK about the potential Spice Girls reunion at a special family screening of Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation.
“Fingers crossed! I think it would be lovely to work with the girls again,” she told us. “I love being on stage with [the girls]. There’s nothing quite like it!
“Just performing with the girls again gets me excited, definitely. We love being together and we love performing together.”
Sure, it’s not a total confirmation from either and fans are still skeptical that it will actually happen, but the comments certainly show an enthusiasm to get the group back together and we are hearing all the right noises for a Spice Girls reunion.
Let’s not forget that earlier this year, Mel B told The Today Show: “Finally, they’ve got it together. We are touring. Should I have really said that out loud? Yes, we are going to be doing performances together for sure.”
In the meantime, there are mini Spice Girls reunions happening behind-the-scenes all the time. According to Emma, the band’s children often spend time together: “We’re a team - the kids love to hang out with each other. It’s funny because a couple of them love singing and acting and we like to think they’re doing what we love doing.”
Emma told us that her son, Tate, is especially keen on performing.
“He just loves singing and dancing that’s all he does at home and if that’s what he wants to do then that’s great. He loves 2 Become 1. I think that’s because it’s my favourite!”
Emma also mentioned that she has been spending time in the studio to work on “bits and bobs” for some new solo material.
“Nothing set in stone. I love being in the studio, I love writing and my kids love it as well.”
‘Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation’ is in UK cinemas from 27th July.
