The Circle host Emma Willis apparently briefly forgot which reality show she was presenting during Friday night’s live final.
During the grand finale, the former Big Brother presenter was interviewing recently-eliminated contestant Ella, but slipped into old habits.
“When you first entered the house,” Emma began, before quickly correcting herself: “Not the house. The apartments!”
The gaffe did not go unnoticed by the studio audience, or Ella herself, with Emma jokingly trying to calm the situation down, declaring: “Oh, come on!”
Emma took over presenting duties on The Circle from original hosts Maya Jama and Alice Levine earlier this year, and was quick to downplay any similarities between the show and her old gig.
“I hated Big Brother being compared to a game but this is clearly a game with the interaction of people, how they’ll react in certain scenarios and then seeing who is going to be themselves and who is going to play it to try and be the most popular and win that money,” she said.
The presenter helmed Big Brother and its celebrity counterpart since 2013, until Channel 5 pulled the plug on the long-standing reality show last year.
Last night’s grand finale of The Circle saw Paddy crowned the winner, while Tim was awarded the title of the viewers’ champion.
The moment of the night, though, was when the players came face to face for the first time, and discovered that single mum “Sammie” was actually a young man named James.
The Circle is expected to return to Channel 4 for a third series next year, while international versions are currently in the works on Netflix.
