We know itā€™s only April but weā€™re calling it ā€“ Fleabag is the best TV show that will be on this year. And with the second series about to come to an end, the entire nation has been wondering if thereā€™ll be a third.

Surely weā€™ll get to see more of Andrew Scott as the priest? And whatā€™s in store for Fleabagā€™s dad and Godmother after the wedding? Unfortunately, it seems like we wonā€™t.

Sian Clifford (who plays Claire) has insisted Mondayā€™s episode will mark the very end of Fleabag, stating on Fridayā€™s BBC Breakfast: ā€œThere will not be a third series, this is it.ā€

After host Naga Munchetty rightly declared this ā€œdevastatingā€ news, Sian elaborated and teased the finale, calling it ā€œa beautiful perfect endingā€.

ā€œItā€™s closer to poetry,ā€ she added. ā€œI think people will accept this is the end when they see it because I think it is complete. I think the story is complete.ā€

Before you get too distraught though, donā€™t forget creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge previously insisted there definitely wouldnā€™t be a series two either.

However, after ā€œtaking some spaceā€ from Fleabag, she began devising ideas for the news series, which came three years after the first.

The second series has seen the return of most of the original cast, including Olivia Colman as Godmother, while stars including Fiona Shaw and Kristin Scott Thomas have joined the cast. And of course, Andrew Scott joined as The Priest.

Speaking to HuffPost UK prior to the series premiere, he praised his pal Phoebe and her writing.

ā€œI think sheā€™s got a very playful attitude towards creating her drama and her comedy, and thatā€™s absolutely the way it should be,ā€ Andrew said. ā€œI absolutely adored working with her, and I hope we get to do something together again.ā€
