The world might be in the middle of a pandemic, but some people still need reminding to stay at home and stick to social distancing guidance.
Enter Nessa Jenkins.
Ruth Jones has taken to social media as her beloved Gavin & Stacey character to urge fans to “stay out my way” when she’s doing “my half marathon around Barry”.
And who would argue with that?
“Oh, what’s occurring? Not a lot, other than a global pandemic but the question was rhetorical,” she begins in the clip.
“Now listen, I am not here to give advice, there’s plenty of others that would do that for you, it’s your life and I am not about to tell you how to live it. I wouldn’t do that to no one. I wouldn’t even tell myself to live my life.
“If you see me in the morning doing my daily run, my half marathon around Barry, don’t even think about breaking that two-metre rule because if you does I will not hesitate to tell you quite clearly to back off.
“Because at the end of the day when all is said and done, no word of a lie if truth be told, just because you don’t feel ill don’t mean you’re not infectious, you could be riddled.”
Nessa signs off with the message: “Stay safe, stay out of my way and protect the NHS, obviously it goes without saying.”
Nessa’s coronavirus advice comes hot on the heels of the return of Gavin & Stacey to our screens in last year’s Christmas special.
The one-off episode was watched by 18.5 million viewers in four weeks, making it the most-watched TV show since records began in 2002.
Earlier this year Ruth and co-writer James Corden added fuel to speculation that the show could return in some capacity, after the huge ratings success of the reunion special.
