Football fans at Glastonbury won’t have to miss out on the Women’s World Cup, because the festival has confirmed it’ll show England’s quarter-final game.

The match against Norway will be shown on big screens at the festival’s popular West Holts stage on Thursday.

The announcement comes after England midfielder Georgia Stanway tweeted Glastonbury asking for the game to be screened for festival-goers – including her brother.

We are delighted to be able to announce that - of course! - we’ll be screening The @Lionesses’ Women's World Cup quarter-final against Norway on Thursday, on the West Holts Stage’s big screens. Kick-off is 8pm (@StanwayGeorgia, we’ll look out for your brother!) #TheLionesses pic.twitter.com/8jnVYVbjm2

Glastonbury famously showed the England and Germany fixture in 2010, which came at the knock-out stage of the men’s World Cup.

England lost 4-1, but the screening drew a large audience (and left some artists playing to greatly reduced numbers).

The latest announcement was met with joy from football fans on Twitter.

This is incredible!👏🏻 seems to be such a genuine buzz around this year’s @FIFAWWC it’s been great seeing and hearing so many people take an interest in the tournament! #France2019 ⚽️😊

Great move guys! And to think my local pub refused a request by me to have it screened (apparently wouldn't be popular enough) oh well I'd better cheer on @StanwayGeorgia and the girls from home then!

In 2010 I spent valuable @GlastoFest time watching @England lose to Germany, so @Lionesses if I go to the West Holts on Thursday night you're gonna give us plenty to cheer yeah 😁
