Grammys 2019: Drake's Acceptance Speech Is Cut Short After Making Surprise Appearance

"Lol... he's never coming back."

Drake made an unexpected appearance at the Grammys on Sunday night, to collect his award for Best Rap Song, only for his speech to be cut off before he was finished.

In previous years, Drake has declined to appear at the Grammys, because he’s been unhappy with the way awards have been given out in past ceremonies, with reports suggesting he also declined to perform during this year’s show.

However, his chart-topping God’s Plan was named Best Rap Song during this year’s speech, and despite having swerved the red carpet, Drake sneakily made his way to the stage, revealing he’d been there all along.

While on stage, Drake had an important message for both aspiring artists and his peers, saying: “All the kids that are aspiring to do music, we play in an opinion based sport, not a factual-based sport. This is not the NBA.

This is a business where sometimes it is up to a bunch of people that might not understand what a mixed race kid from Canada has to say… or a brother from Houston right there, my brother Travis [Scott].

He continued: “You’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you are a hero in your hometown. If there is people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain, in the snow, spending their hard-earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows, you don’t need this right here, I promise you, you already won.”

And then… well, we don’t know what came next, because producers suddenly cut to an ad, which some even joked on social media may have been deliberate...

Wait drake showed up unexpectedly and then they cut off his speech, the Grammys are savage

At least Drake came to accept his rap award for a non-rap song to drop some gems about the music industry before the Grammy’s cut him off like, “Okay enough!”
