Grandpa Bets Family He Can Get 98 Facebook Likes For His 98th Birthday, Ends Up With 22,000

Leading up to his 98th birthday, all Alfred Birch wanted was to get 98 likes on a Facebook post.

But his daughter and granddaughter didn't think he'd quite manage it.

So Alfred, from Massachusetts, posted a photo of himself from his hospital bed online, holding a sign asking for likes.

It turns out the ladies seriously underestimated Alfred, as his post gained more than 22,000 likes in a few days.

Alfred was in hospital with congestive heart failure and doctors weren't sure if he was going to make it.

But he's now left hospital with a spring in his step - and more Facebook friends than ever.
