This week’s semi-final saw Briony Williams fall at the last hurdle as she was eliminated after after a patisserie blunder.

She was sent home after “probably” mixing up salt and sugar in her showstopper challenge, which saw her efforts branded “raw” and “very salty” by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

Kim-Joy, Rahul and Ruby will now compete to be crowned Britain’s best amateur baker in next week’s grand final.

Ruby is in a particularly strong position going into the episode, having been crowned Star Baker for the second time on Tuesday.

‘The Great British Bake Off’ final airs next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
