‘Great British Bake Off’ Fans Unconvinced By This Week's Result

WARNING! Spoilers ahead.

The result of the latest ‘Great British Bake Off’ has caused upset among certain viewers, after Manon was sent home over Rahul.

Despite becoming a fan favourite over the last few weeks, many fans of the Channel 4 show believed Rahul deserved to go, after a poor performance on all three challenges on Tuesday night.

Rahul seriously struggled with the show’s first-ever Danish week, and had even convinced himself he would be going home.

He failed to make his rye bread edible in the first challenge, burned his Æbleskiver - little pancake balls stuffed with cinnamon and apple - and over-baked his signature by 10 minutes.

Manon had come in for criticism too, with Paul Hollywood pulling her up on making French bakes instead of what had been asked for.

Manon’s rye bread turned into more of a French loaf, and her showstopper was more pain au chocolat than Danish pastry.

But the fact Rahul had tripped up a lot harder than Manon left fans questioning the judges’ decision to send her home over her competitor...

WHAT NO?! I love Rahul but he was last in every single challenge! How did he stay over Manon? This isn't fair imo. 😒👎 #GBBO

Rahul fucks up everything and manon gets the chop because her baking was basically well executed but a bit too French? Programmes a fucking fix #GBBO

Am I right in thinking Rahul just dodged a bake off bullet? #GBBO

Last night’s #GBBO has left a sour taste

Worst signature: Rahul
Worst technical: Rahul
Worst showstopper: Rahul

Leaving the tent: Manon #gbbo very dodgy!!

#GBBO Manon voted out, seriously. Rahul had an absolute shocker on all 3 challenges...

Sorry...but Raoul was last in signature, last in technical & had a pretty bad show stopper...and yet Manon goes home. Alright then. #GBBO

However, others with had a more level-headed view on the outcome...

The reason Rahul stayed is because he failed while attempting to cook the RIGHT recipes. Manon succeeded in cooking the WRONG recipes: French bread instead of rye and pain au chocolate instead of Danish pastry... IN DANISH WEEK! So not favouritism but a judgement call. #GBBO pic.twitter.com/od9rTnGzup

She built 3 good sports cars when the task was to build 3 bungalows. Rahul's bungalows were crap but they were bungalows #GBBO

Controversial opinion, but I think that was the right call. Manon and Rahul both had bad bakes. However, Manon also didn't attempt to meet the brief for two challenges. She didn't attempt rye bread and she didn't make Danish pastries. #GBBO

Even though the fans were divided by the outcome of the episode, everyone loved the contestants wearing Hawaiian shirts in tribute to the recently eliminated Jon.
