Man Arrested After Girl, 12, Hit By Motorist Shot In Face On Halloween

The girl, who was trick-or-treating at the time of the incident, was left with serious injuries.

A man has been arrested after a 12-year-old trick-or-treater was seriously injured on Halloween when she was struck by a motorist who had been shot in the face.

Merseyside Police said a 28-year-old man was detained on suspicion of attempted murder following the shooting in Croxteth on Thursday.

The girl sustained serious, but not life-threatening, injuries after being hit by the car in a residential street.

The force said a man had been shot at while driving a black VW Golf down Sceptre Road at 7.50pm. The girl was then hit by the car.

Shortly after the incident, a man presented at hospital with a non-life threatening facial injury.

Speaking after the incident on Thursday, chief inspector Mark Everard said: “Firearms have no place on the streets of Merseyside and we are committed to finding the people responsible for using them and bringing them to justice.”
