Alden Ehrenreich will play young Han Solo in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ spin-off film, according to reports from Hollywood industry publications.
The actor, who film fans will remember as the spotlight-stealing star of the Coen Brothers’ ‘Hail Caesar!’, has beaten off competition from the likes of Miles Teller and Dave Franco, to land the highly-coveted role.
Deadline reports that the standalone movie is expected to be titled ‘Han Solo: A Star Wars Story’ and pre-production plans are currently in progress, led by directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
Christopher teased the film earlier this week, celebrating Star Wars day by sharing the first snap from production, posting a picture of Han’s blaster on Twitter:
Thankfully, ‘Star Wars’ will be getting another fix ahead of this spin-off, when ‘Rogue One’ arrives in cinemas later this year.
‘The Theory Of Everything’ star Felicity Jones takes the lead in the film, while Mads Mikkelsen recently slipped up during a television interview, and revealed a closely-guarded secret about his character.
