Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad’ is officially one of the most popular Halloween costumes of 2016, but a new take on the Margot Robbie-inspired look is taking over the internet.
Originally posted on Imgur and Reddit, the below photo of Netherlands-based makeup artist Nora Belk has been viewed over 600,000 times.
“I wear a hijab and this is my Halloween make-up for this year calling it ‘Halal-ey Quinn’,” Belk wrote.
Using red and blue hijab, and recreating Harley Quinn’s makeup to perfection, the 21-year-old completely nailed the look.
Incorporating her hijab into the Halloween look was a powerful statement for Belk, who had been discouraged from wearing it at cosplay events in the past.
“[The hijab] is part of my identity and who I stand for, so I wear it proudly,” she told Pedestrian.tv this week.
