Salford resident Stuart Boyd says he has been left "distraught" by a design error that saw his passport picture resemble former German dictator Adolf Hitler.
Boyd had renewed the passport ahead of a special trip for his 50th birthday, but has had to send it back because of the uncanny likeness of the Nazi leader.
“I was really angry when I saw it," Boyd told the Manchester Evening News. "I was distraught, really. I just thought, ‘Oh, for God’s sake, I have to have this for 10 years and they can’t even get it right. I wasn’t really sure of the process of how to change it so I posted a picture of it on Facebook.
“My friends and colleagues think it’s hilarious.”
Boyd decided to raise the issue with the Passport Office, who said they would replace the document for free.
"All UK passports are carefully created and checked to exacting standards before they are issued," a representative told MEN.
"However, in this instance Mr Boyd's passport will be replaced free of charge."
