Dry January 2018: How Giving Up Alcohol Affects The Body

It's worth it.

A whopping 4.2 million Brits were estimated to have taken part in Dry January this year, which involves giving up alcohol for a month.

The initiative, which is run by national charity Alcohol Concern, cites many benefits to participants. According to Dr Richard Piper, CEO of Alcohol Concern, 49% of people lose weight, while 62% sleep better and 79% save money.

“Alcohol is the biggest cause of death, ill-health and disability for people aged 15-49 in the UK – but these tragedies are all totally avoidable,” he said.
