From *that* discussion about Brexit to Rosie’s epic dressing down of Adam, not to mention Lucie having the audacity to eat a banana and an apple at the SAME TIME, the Love Island garden has played host to some of the most memorable reality TV show moments ever.
As a result, the landscaped terraces of the villa are as central to the hit ITV2 reality series as bikini-clad contestants and the catchphrase “I’ve got a text!”.
It’s very easy to become distracted by the stunning surroundings and start dreaming of injecting a little bit of Love Island into our own British back gardens.
So, while we may not be able to provide the beautiful backdrop of the Mallorcan countryside – or indeed the Spanish weather – here’s our top pick of products to make your backyard look totally “your type on paper”.
Acapulco Chairs
These chairs – known among most of us as “string eggs chairs” – are everywhere at the moment, but you probably first spotted them in 2017 in the smoking area of the villa, back when Islanders were still allowed to light up in the garden.
They can work out pretty pricey unless you know where you’re looking. Sklum, a discounted furniture site, has a range of colours – from warm apricot to dusty jade green – and they cost just £55 each, which is among the cheapest we’ve found. This orange one from Robert Dyas is just £79.99 or if you’re looking for something less bright it’s also available in grey for £59.99. There are also some steals on sale at B&M for just £22 in turquoise.
If you’re after a matching set with a table you, head to Sklum for a range of colours for £122 or Robert Dyas for a grey set for just £99.99.
Fire Pit
The infamous fire pit is home to all those tense recouplings, but hopefully your garden parties won’t get that awkward. No one wants a recreation of the Josh-Kaz-Georgia saga.
We love Aldi’s 2-in-1 fire pit which also doubles up as a BBQ – particularly because it costs just £49.99. But as with all things from the discount supermarket, you can’t guarantee it’ll be in stock in store.
You might be better off to buying this cast iron disc fire pit from Waitrose for £109.99 – it’s also available in bigger sizes.
Beanbags
There’s nowhere better to lounge around and bitch about your housemates than on a beanbag – just ask the Islanders.
Make sure yours is fit for outdoors though, because no one wants a soggy bottom (on which note, have you noticed Tommy Fury’s resemblance to Paul Hollywood? We can’t unsee it).
This £85 red beanbag from John Lewis is slightly tear-dropped shaped, making it great for sitting on, but not lounging. If you want one you can lie on too, try this £75 job from Made.com in either orange or grey – it’s called ‘Piggy’, which feels like a bit of a personal attack on our laziness tbh.
Festoon Lights
Twinkly lights are a signature of the villa, strung across the garden in a pretty row to make even the most mundane of evenings feel electric. There is plenty of festoon lighting on Amazon for under £25, depending on what you’re after.
On the subject of lighting, this globe light from Next – which costs £30 in small and £65 for a larger version – is perfect (though only available in store at the moment).
Paddling Pool
OK, we can’t give you an infinity pool like the villa, so we’re resorted to the next best thing. Probs for the best if you’re renting anyway.
We recently rounded up five of the best paddling pools – including one from Lidl which costs just £89.99. And while you’re at it, try this genius Instagram hack to make your paddling pics look like a Casa Amor.
Tropical Outdoor Crockery
Is your garden party even a party if you don’t have watermelon tumblers and a flamingo jug? They’re both from M&S, which has an extensive range of fun outdoor crockery. We also love this fern glassware on Etsy.
Perfect to keep you hydrated while sitting gossiping by the pool – or to hold a cocktail while you convince your partner your head won’t be turned, promise.
Bright Outdoor Throws
If even the Islanders need outdoor throws to stay warm outside during the Mallorcan evenings, we better stock up here in the UK.
This multicolour quilted blanket from Ikea is a steal at £18, while this bright camping throw from John Lewis is reduced to £12 (down from £25).
It is what it is.
