Name: Cory Cantrell
Age: 31
Height: 6'2"
Before Weight: 319 pounds
How I Gained It: It started with a lot of negative choices in eating habits. I was depressed, and I loved food. I really didn't care what my figure looked like. It was like food was a comfort. I ate a lot of sweets, anything I could get my hands on, and I drank a lot of soda.
Breaking Point: I didn't like what I saw in the mirror. Nobody wants to be fat. It takes your confidence away.
How I Lost It: I put myself on a low-"bad-carb" diet. I ate lots of fruit and did a lot of walking. I'd walk in snow, rain, heat. It was hard to get motivated at first, but I had to keep focused. I built up to walking more than six miles a day. I knew that if I was going to change I had to give it my all. I had to go after this like I never had gone after anything before.
Now I never drink soda. I occasionally drink black coffee or unsweetened tea. I came to love the taste of water. I eat chicken, tuna, eggs, fruit, vegetables. Once a week I allow myself to go out to eat for Mexican food and an ice cream. I still walk, but maybe more like 2.5 miles a day. Now, I walk with my head up. I can do 50 pushups at a time. I can stand up and move around with getting tired as easily. I have more energy. I'm a new person today, and I love it.
I've accomplished something at one point in life I didn't think I could ever do. I hope this can give others hope and inspire them.
After Weight: 198 pounds
