Robbie Savage has become the latest star to be linked to a place on this year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!’.
Bosses are said to be hopeful they can persuade the former footballer to sign up for ITV reality show, having approached him to become a contestant many times over the years.
A source told The Mirror: “Robbie would be an amazing signing. We’re quietly confident he’ll do it after years of trying to persuade him.”
The former Leicester City player, who retired from professional football in 2011, is close friends with hosts Ant and Dec, who will do doubt relish seeing their pal take on the Bushtucker Trials.
Robbie is no stranger to reality TV, having appeared on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2011, where he finished sixth overall in the competition.
He previously confessed he would consider doing ‘I’m A Celeb’, saying: “I thought I’d never do a reality show but I’ve realised I’m someone who needs a challenge. I’d consider it.”
A spokesperson for Robbie Savage declined to comment when contacted by HuffPost UK.
Other celebs rumoured to be entering the jungle for new series of ‘I’m A Celeb’ include Olympian Louis Smith, Emmerdale’s Fiona Wade, ‘Neighbours’ actress Olympia Valance, Cheryl’s ex-husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, former UKIP leader Nigel Farrage and Michael Jackson’s doctor Conrad Murray.
‘I’m A Celebrity’ is expected to return to ITV in November.
