Adele Roberts’ exit from I’m A Celebrity might have been shrouded in controversy, but she’s not letting a pesky voting error get her down – thanks in no small part to a certain Jane McDonald.
The Radio 1 DJ received a FaceTime call from her hero after leaving the jungle, sharing a joyful image of their catch-up on Instagram.
“Guess who FaceTimed me!!?” she wrote in the caption, before tagging Jane in the picture.
Adele became known for her love of Jane during her time in the jungle, after controversially selecting a picture of the former Loose Woman as her luxury item.
She hailed Jane as a “national treasure” and the “queen of Wakefield” after her puzzled campmates wondered why she had brought the picture into camp.
Jane later recorded a video message in support of Adele, but she’s now gone one better than that with a one-on-one video call.
While Adele’s Instagram post reveals that the moment was captured on TV cameras, the pair’s chat looks likely to air as part of the Coming Out show after the series has finished.
Jane previously admitted she was “gobsmacked” after learning Adele had taken her picture into the Australian jungle.
She told Metro: “I’m absolutely thrilled that I was in the jungle but I look brilliant because I’m fully made up and I’ve got a posh frock on!”
Despite Jane’s support, Adele became the first star to be voted off I’m A Celebrity on Friday night.
However, viewers blasted the “unfair” result after a wording error meant that votes cast on the show’s app had to be discounted, with only those cast by phone dictating who left.
Adele later said she had “made peace” with the result and was proud of what she’d achieved on the show.
She told The Sun: “Maybe it counted against me but I kinda feel whatever will be will be. I have made peace with that and all I wanted to do was make sure I stayed for the 14 days and I said last night if I got to stay it was a bonus.
“I am happy with what I achieved. I feel like I have graduated from jungle university. I could have gone anyway if the app had been working.”
Andrew Maxwell has since become the second celebrity to be sent home, with another set to say goodbye to jungle life tonight at 9pm on ITV.
