Beverley Callard left I’m A Celebrity... Get me Out Of Here! viewers - and fellow contestants - stunned during Wednesday night’s show, after a rather rude admission about her husband, Jon McEwan.
Yes, we’re talking about that “megashag” comment.
Chatting to her fellow campmates about her husband of 10 years, Beverley confessed: “Jon’s very handsome... he’s a megashag.”
As Shane Richie and Victoria Derbyshire expressed their shock at the former Coronation Street star’s declaration, Beverley doubled down, insisting: “He’s a megashag. And he dances for me in the kitchen every morning, and makes me laugh my socks off.”
With a bit of encouragement from presenters Ant and Dec, “#megashag” racked up thousands of tweets, eventually becoming the top trending topic in the UK, and sparking plenty of conversation in the process...
Fortunately, the man himself saw the funny side, joking, “I’ll take that!”, after spotting that one fan had edited his name on Beverley’s Wikipedia page:
Of course, this isn’t the first time Bev has had I’m A Celebrity viewers talking with her loose tongue.
Earlier in the week, she put her foot right in it after branding Splash! “the most stupid programme ever”, seemingly not realising it was hosted by her fellow campmate Vernon Kay.
During Wednesday’s show, the soap legend was able to make it up to him, though, when she picked him to receive a luxury spa treatment.
“I love you Vernon and I was thinking about Tess [Daly, his wife] and your girls and I just thought he deserves it,” she told him, as they both shed a tear.
Tess Daly then posted the clip on her Instagram story, commenting: “This made me well up… so sweet of [Beverley].”
