I was lucky enough to join Joanna Lumley, David Gandy and Malaika Firth on on the guest list for the fifth Women: Inspiration and Enterprise (WIE) Awards, which you can enjoy by watching the action unfold from their recorded live stream.
It such a fantastic evening and a great opportunity for network and to celebrate the success of some of the most inspirational women in the UK. I was blown away by 106 year old Irene Sinclair who got up and accepted her first ever award - such an amazing moment and I was truly honoured to be there.
Another touching moment was when a young girl who used to be homeless received her first award. I was moved by her story and situation and the fact she had gotten through her struggle and was there to tell her story was so motivational. I think that sometimes we can take for granted what we have and to hear how this girl said her recipe for success was a roof over her head and food in her stomach sound be a driver for anyone who isn't confident in their lives.
Inspirational women who have used their influence as entrepreneurs to make a positive difference to the lives of others were honoured at the WIE award ceremony.
I saw powerful speeches from international lawyer Miriam González Durántez, Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, Aldijana Sisic, chief of the UN Trust Fund to end violence against women and Professor Frances Corner, head of the London College of Fashion, UAL.
There was also an innovative fashion show debuting the 'Legacy Collection' from theLDNY Foundation - a charity that helps young people from lower income families gain entry into the creative industries.
The show highlighted the next generation of design talent from the London College of Fashion, UAL and Parsons New School in New York, as well as the work of female artisans from Mongolia, Peru, India, Ethiopia and Papua New Guinea.
It was a fantastic evening and I hope to continue to work with the WIE going forward to inspire other women - as well as be inspired myself. A massive well done to June Sarpong for being so inspiring and working tirelessly to pull this amazing project together!
