Jamelia has refuted reports she has been fired from ‘Loose Women’.
The star was at the centre of claims she’d been dropped from the ITV daytime show after reportedly aggravating producers with her controversial comments on plus-sized clothing.
However, Jamelia has now insisted she is still a part of the show, but is currently on hiatus.
Speaking the Daily Star, she said: “I’m not leaving the show. I haven’t been sacked, even though that’s been reported everywhere. I’m still a part of ‘Loose Women’. I haven’t been part of this season but I might be back in the New Year.
The Sun claimed Jamelia had “annoyed bosses with her comments on high street shops selling bigger clothes”, and producers were trying to distance themselves from her as a result.
The specific incident in question happened in 2015, when she said: “I don’t believe stores should stock clothes below or above a certain weight. [Bigger people] should be made to feel uncomfortable when they go in and can’t find a size.
“I do not think it’s right to facilitate people living an unhealthy lifestyle.”
Addressing her comments again, Jamelia told the Daily Star: “It’s a debate show. Anything I have said on the show will always come from a genuine place.
Jamelia isn’t the only ‘Loose Women’ panellist currently on a break, with Katie Price taking some time away from the show to focus on her marriage.
‘Loose Women’ airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
